Wally has previously worked as a vehicle mechanic/mechanical engineer in the armed forces until retirement in 1994. During this time he completed a Mechanical Engineering Degree and several military & NEBOSH Health & Safety and quality qualifications. After the army he worked for Oxfordshire Training and Enterprise Council in a Health and Safety role ensuring training provider contractual compliance which required audits and workplace monitoring to ensure apprentices and other trainees were being supported in a safe and healthy working environment. He also provided advice to companies through the Business Link and achieved a NEBOSH Diploma and NEBOSH Construction Certificate. Wally then worked for a Safety Consultancy providing services and training mainly to the construction industry before working on a self employed basis for a variety of long term clients.
This varied experience and qualifications gave Wally the skills needed to provide Health and Safety Management for Agetur UK Ltd which he joined in 2005. He is passionate about his job and believes Health & Safety is a way of life to which all staff and contractors must buy into so that they go home at the end of the working day with all of their arms, legs and fingers. This is achieved through education, communication and respect for ones colleagues because of the hard work they do, often in difficult working conditions.
